Meet the Dark Horse of Publicity Design Industry: Mr. Lalji Wagh

Publicity designer Lalji Wagh is a known name in the industry, who has done more than 100 films till date. Page 3, Maalamal Weekly, Traffic Signal, Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, Pyaar ka Punchnama are the few films among many to his credits. Besides all this, he has designed the logos for NFDC Film Bazaar, Emraan Hashmi Films, Shama Sikandar Films, Yen Movies, Cult Entertainment etc.

He has also worked on films like Turtle, which won the prestigious National Award, Raahgir, which was screened in the Busan Film Festival and MAMI film festival, Modiji Ki Bati, Sayonee and Virgin Bhanupriya.

Talking about his journey, he said, “When I was eight years old, my teacher appreciated the drawing I had made and even framed it and guided my career in Applied Arts. I then completed Applied arts from Vallabh Vidyanagar followed by masters in Visual Art from M.S. University, Baroda. Later, I reached Mumbai and joined P9 integrated where I worked for five long years on big projects like Page 3, Maalamal Weekly, Traffic Signal, Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, Pyaar ka Punchnama among many others.”

“The year 2015 was a turning point in my career as I started my own studio VOW Design Studio, which grew by leaps and bounds in it’s initial years and is now an established studio in Andheri, Mumbai. Some of my works which were appreciated were posters of films like, Bhoot Returns, Policegiri, Jeena isi ka naam hai, Hanuman Da Damdaar, Kamasutra 3D, Bollywood Diaries, Daas Dev, Club 60 to name a few,” he added.

“I did publicity designs of Mukti Bhavan, Mushkil, Paharganj, and also Hollywood film like Poignant. I have also designed for many well known Marathi and Gujarati films like, Me Shivaji Rao Bhosle Boltoye, Charandas Chor in Marathi and Vitamin She, Wassup Zindagi in Gujarati,” he further shared.

He also revealed about his additional skills, he said, “ I like to follow new trends as well as discovering my own. I also design motion posters and logos for my clients and always try to deliver what they want. But at the same time also suggest them that what will work better for the film. I believe that the sky is the limit in my field.”
