LMRC SECURITY TEAM CONDUCTS AWARENESS DRIVE TO CURB KITE FLYING NEAR METRO CORRIDOR

Lucknow Metro Team conducted an awareness drive today to educate shopkeepers and general public on consequences of kite flying near metro corridors. The campaign lead by Chief Security Commissioner, LMRC Shri Umesh Chandra Srivastava and his team along with Hussainganj Thana police team was carried in Hussainganj area to check sales of Chinese manjha and also to create awareness about the dangerous consequences of kite flying near Metro corridors.

The awareness drive was conducted by LMRC Security Commissioner Shri Umesh Chandra Srivastava, Security Commissioner-LMRC Shri Inderjeet Rawat, Security officials Shri Jeetendra Kaushal and Shri Sachin Soni along with UP police team. During the drive today, it was found that most of the shopkeepers don’t sell Chinese or metal strings keeping in mind the safety of the kite fliers and birds. They were also encouraged to aware and educate the buyers to not fly kites near the metro corridor.

Kite flying near the metro corridor not can not only disrupt metro services due to entangling of the thread with the OHE but can also prove fatal for the kite flier who is under high risk of getting electrocuted if the manjha has any metal element to it and comes in contact with the 25000 Volt Over Head Equipment (OHE). There have been incidents of OHE tripping in the past leading to disruption of metro services and on investigation, metal threads were also found entangled with the OHE.

LMRC has been conducting such drives on a regular basis to ensure public safety and convenience along with the prevention of loss to metro property.
